The Aftermath

After Arias left the crime scene, she drove through the desert towards Utah. She had taken the gun, possibly the knife, had changed clothes, and dumped them en route. She claimed the gun was thrown somewhere in the desert, and the clothes, (and possibly) the knife, were thrown into a dumpster. Regarding the knife, she only had memories of dropping it on the bathroom tile floor, and putting it into the dishwasher, but she doesn't remember if that was on June 4, 2008 or another time. She approached a police checkpoint outside of the Hoover Dam, claimed she stopped before she got to it, and cleaned her hands of blood with the bottled water from her trunk. She also said she didn't have shoes on at that point either, but doesn't remember what happened to them. She also claimed that she had magically found her car charger for her cell phone outside of Arizona, and called Ryan to let him know that she had gotten lost, but she was on her way. She hadn't told Ryan that she was going to Arizona before she went to Utah, so he had been expecting her on June 4, 2008 around 11:00am. She also made a call to Travis, leaving a vibrant, cheery voicemail on his phone stating how sorry she was that she couldn't visit him, but he would be coming to see her soon, and highlighted the things they'd do together when he got there. She testified that she had spoken to Leslie Udi, a mutual friend of Travis and Arias. Leslie had mentioned no one could get ahold of Travis and people had been leaving voicemails on his phone. She explained that was the reason she left the voicemail, and also to throw off police from suspecting her.
She drove through to Salt Lake City, Utah, the same day, where she filled her car up with gas. She met up with Ryan in West Jordan, Utah (a close suburb), and they cuddled on his "love sac." Eventually they fell asleep for a little while on top of each other, and when they awakened, she said, "you must not be comfortable," and adjusted him by placing her hands on his butt. They kissed passionately, and "grinded," which apparently is rubbing each other's genitalia against each other, but with clothes on. She admitted that Travis and she used to "grind," but with their clothes off. Arias vehemently asserts that Ryan and she did NOT grind, but Ryan testified that they had. So basically, we know that she murdered Travis on June 4, 2008 and immediately went and had a sexual encounter with Ryan in Utah. She claimed to want to put on a facade that nothing was wrong, or nothing had happened. That night after having dinner at a restaurant, that's when Ryan stated that Arias was pulled over by a policeman for having her rear license plate affixed upside down.
Arias left West Jordan, Utah and headed back to Yreka. When she arrived back in Yreka, she claimed to go back to work. She made a preemptive phone call to Detective Flores on June 10, 2008 asking him about Travis's murder. During this phone call, Arias pretended that she had nothing to do with the murder, and asked questions to see what the Detective knew about the crime, so she could fit her stories to match their evidence. Luckily Flores didn't give her much, and pretended he didn't know everything he did, and even gave her the wrong date of when the murder occurred. Flores told her he would call her again if he had anymore questions.
Meanwhile, there was a memorial service held for Travis in Mesa, around June 15, 2008. Arias traveled by plane to attend the service, and even sent 20 white irises to his grandmother, Norma Sarvey, accompanied by a letter. The letter stated how sorry she was for their loss, and promised to help the police in any way she could; even though she had nothing to do with the murder. At the service, she was all smiles and even approached Mimi Hall and asked her about Cancun. She wrote in his memorial book under a photo that she had provided, stating what a light and inspiration Travis had been to her, and how much she loved him. On the plane ride home, she flirted with a man sitting next to her, and even provided him with her phone number.
On July 15, 2008, Arias was arrested at her grandparents home in Yreka. The two officers found her packing another white rental vehicle, and found a brand new 9mm handgun and a set of knives in the vehicle.

Arias's Premeditation

After Travis and Arias's late May 2008 text argument, Arias began intricate preparations to travel to Mesa, AZ to murder him. She began on May 28, 2008 by staging a burglary at her grandparents house. When the police arrived to the house, they discovered these "burglars" only wanted a .25 caliber handgun. They left all other rifles, shotguns, money, and electronics in the home. Arias claimed to return to the house around 1:00pm, and was asked to look around her room to see if anything was missing. She initially told them her laptop went missing, but later claimed that she was glad she had it with her because she normally keeps it in her clothes hamper. So even if she did have it in her hamper, the "burglars" didn't take it. She ultimately claimed the only thing missing from her room was a $10 and $20 bill, totaling $30. They apparently left the money that was in the closet with all the guns in it, and only took this .25 caliber handgun that Arias described a...

History of Jodi Arias

Jodi Arias was convicted of brutally murdering her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander on June 4, 2008 in his home in Mesa, Arizona. Mr. Alexander suffered a gunshot wound to the face, 27+ stab wounds, and near decapitation from ear to ear. Arias was sentenced to life in Perryville prison without the possibility of parole on April 13, 2015. Travis Victor Alexander was born on July 28, 1977 in Riverside, California. He was a dedicated Mormon, and even a temple-worthy Mormon at times, belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He worked as a salesman for a company called PrePaid Legal (PPL), currently Legal Shield, and was a motivational speaker. He had begun writing a book detailing his abusive childhood with his 7 additional siblings. His parents were drug addicts and possibly alcoholics, who severely neglected him and his siblings. They were all taken in by their paternal grandmother, Norma Jean Sarvey (1932-2012) and introduced to the church.  His book was to...

Arias and Alexander

After Arias moved back to Yreka in April of 2008, she and Travis continued to have a kinky, sexual relationship. They would have phone sex, talk almost every night, and when they saw each other, they'd have oral, anal, and vaginal sex. She claimed that Travis was the one who continued to want all kinds of sex from her. This was difficult to believe as Arias seemed to always be the one initiating their encounters. Arias had a tendency to pathologically lie throughout the entire case, so because it was proven she had lied from the very beginning about numerous things, it was difficult to believe anything that she said, even under oath on the witness stand. Arias ended up recording a very long phone conversation on May 10, 2008, which she claimed that Travis wanted for his enjoyment. Yet there was no evidence to support that, just evidence that she was recording the conversation (possibly as blackmail), without his knowledge. In this phone call we heard Travis specifically stating th...
